Under the Brim #1

This segment is a homage to my man Tim Ferriss. If you do not know Mr. Ferriss, do yourself a favor and go and checkout some of his best selling books; The 4-hour work week, Tools of Titans, Tribe of Mentors. He also has a very popular podcast, The Tim Ferriss show, and a blog. Apart of this blog is an exclusive newsletter which he calls "Five Bullet Friday." It's a fantastic concept, filled with valuable content. This "Under the Brim" segment serves a similar purpose, a space for reflection on the week and to jot down musings, revelations, paradigm shifts, inspirations, and exciting discoveries. While primarily a reminder for myself, if you find value in it, you're welcome.
Recent Purchase That Has Proved Valuable:
You know how you hear something once, you earmark it as a good idea and then you store in the back of your mind. Well, I did that with the idea of having an under desk treadmill, until the universe insisted on presenting me with influences of why I should make the purchase. There was a Slack group at work with people making recommendations. I read an article by Stephen Wolfram, "Seeking the Productive Life: Some Details of My Personal Infrastructure", where he mentions the benefits he has seen while walking and working. So, I decided to do some further research of my own and landed on the Walking Pad P1. I settled on the Walking Pad P1, primarily because of its stellar reviews, its foldability, and a decent accompanying app. I vividly recall the day it arrived. The Amazon delivery person dropped it off just as I had a 15-minute window before a meeting. Luckily, I'd already completed the pre-read for that meeting, allowing me time to set up the treadmill. Within 15 minutes, it was ready. I started the meeting while walking on it. Initially, I intended to use the treadmill during meetings exclusively. But now I have slowly started to make it apart of my "heads down" work. The value for me is twofold: 1) I desperately needed more physical activity in my daily routine, especially after nearly two years in a remote working environment. The sedentary lifestyle was weighing on me. 2) I think more clearly and feel wittier when in motion. You can call it my oversized fidget apparatus.
